 Tom Schmitt, Interim Pastor. Tom was born in and grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy. He attended Columbia Graduate School of Bible and Missions, now Columbia International University in 1980-81. In 1982 he enrolled in the Master of Arts in Religion program at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his MAR in 1983. In 1983-84 Tom served an internship as Youth Director and Administrator of Calvary PCA church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1985. Tom and his wife Patty started Emmanuel PCA Church in their home in Franklin, North Carolina in 1988 while he was working as a soil scientist for the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Community Development. In 1990 he was called to serve as the first pastor of Emmanuel PCA in Franklin, NC and served in that position until the year 2000. He has served as an Associate Pastor of Christ PCA, Clarkesville since 2003. Tom is married to Patty Reynolds of Raleigh, North Carolina. Tom and Patty have three children. Tom and Patty have a passion for missions; he has participated in mission trips to Ukraine and intends to foster an emphasis on outreach and world evangelization. |
