Small groups are near and dear to the hearts of all those at Christ
Presbyterian. Small groups provide a nurturing environment while
addressing many important aspects of the Christian life such as
Christian growth, fellowship, evangelism, and the priesthood of the
believer. Whether a young Christian or a mature believer, almost all
find it to be a non-threatening, warm environment to ask questions and
find answers. This allows each individual to be better equipped to live
his/her life filtering all experiences and making decisions through a
more refined Christian world view (otherwise known as discipleship). We
also provide small groups that are sensitive to unsaved
individuals. This allows those who are seeking to have the same
non-threatening environment in which to ask questions and experience
the Holy Spirit's drawing.
We explicitly believe that any person leading a small group should be
thoroughly trained and provide Biblically-based teaching. We do
not take this lightly and feel that receiving inaccurate information
can many times be more harmful than no information at all. We do
not want to be found defeating ourselves.
We firmly believe that anyone, with ample training and
testimony, can be a small group leader. Many churches speak of
this quality, the priesthood of the believer, by saying, “Every member
is a minister.” In the New Testament, Christ makes it quite clear
that He no longer wants just one set of people, i.e. the Levites, to
minister to the people. Instead, He communicates that He expects
anyone who claims to be one of his followers to, in some shape, form,
or fashion, be actively leading or assisting some ministry. Our
church embraces this concept by having the small groups, with an
eagerness to offer more. This means that anyone who has been
trained and is a mature Christian has the opportunity to teach or serve
as a “priest” to others.
We look forward to having you join us in our small groups. We know you can find one that's right for you!
